🎯 2024 Language Goals & Current Levels
📍Sharing my current levels and goals | 4 languages in 2024？
Languages I’m Learning in 2024: Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and French.
I don’t have any plans to take any exams in any of these languages. So, this year I want to keep my goals simple and attainable. 📝 Note: Levels shown are my assumption based on how much I can understand in every language.
⚡ Main Language of 2024:
Mandarin is my focus language for this year while I do want to add the other languages to this list.
🇨🇳 Mandarin:
📍Current level: ~Lower Intermediate | 🎯 Target Level: Lower Advanced
I want to use the HSK book this year to continue learning Chinese. And focus on outputting my chinese language skills by speaking and writing more.
🏁 MAIN GOALS:
Finish HSK 5 books
Focus on active listening without chinese subs
Improve output - speaking and writing
Go through NHSK vocab list (levels yet to decide)
⭐ Other Interested Languages:
French, Cantonese and Japanese.
🇨🇵 French:
📍Current level: Absolute Beginner | 🎯 Target Level: Upper Beginner
I have no specific reason to learn this language. I remember wanting to learn french at school but I couldn’t. A worship song I recently listened to made me want to dabble in this language. So, probably reach a level where I can understand basic conversation and words.
🏁 MAIN GOALS：
Master Beginner French Pronunciation
Get comfortable to French sounds
Learn 500 vocab words
Start speaking basic conversation
🇭🇰 Cantonese:
📍Current level: Lower Beginner | 🎯 Target Level: Upper Beginner
I want to find more resources for Cantonese and begin expanding my vocabulary. Having studied Mandarin really help most of the time.

Improve vocabulary
Improve listening
Master tones
Start speaking basic conversation
🇯🇵 Japanese:
📍Current level: Beginner | 🎯 Target Level: Lower Intermediate
The Kanji part is pretty daunting that I lose motivation to continue learning because I couldn’t remember the readings for the Kanji letters (I read them in chinese in my head). So this year I want to try to find a way to remember Kanji readings. Also I want to focus on outputting and do a lot of inputting.

Improve vocabulary
Finish N4 level resources
Get solid on N5, N4 vocab & grammar
Improve output
